MMA consistently voices strong opposition to specific health care coverage mandates not only because of the increased cost that every mandate imposes but also based on our strong belief that decisions regarding health insurance coverage should be free of government interference and left between employers and employees to decide what coverage is needed and what they can best afford. MMA will continue to oppose new Michigan-only mandated specific health care benefits which ultimately drive up the cost of Michigan employer sponsored health care, making us less competitive compared to other states.
