Background: MMA has been actively advocating solutions to the challenges faced by the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) in approving more closures of contaminated sites. The statutory changes of 2010 were significant improvements to the process. MMA will continue to push the department to implement those changes and to operate within the construct of the new law to ensure efficiency within the program and, ultimately, site closures.
