Background: In order to ensure that Michigan is competitive with other states and the global economy, the state must be held accountable for the performance of its regulatory programs. This accountability is created through benchmarking the state’s programs to other competing states. Some benchmarks that should be included are: number of permits per employee, average cost of an employee per program and average issuance time.
MMA Position: MMA will continue to advocate for the state’s environmental programs to be reviewed and benchmarked against those of other states.
