Wind Developer Begins Construction in U.P.
Spain-based wind farm developer, Gamesa Energy, has begun construction for its first wind farm in the Upper Pennisula. The Garden Wind Farm, in Garden Township, is located just southwest of Manistique along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
President Obama Propsing Manufacturing Tax Decrease
President Barack Obama is planning to propose a decrease in the federal corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 28 percent. As part of the proposal, the President wants a further reduced rate for manufacturers in exchange for the elimination of dozens of loopholes and subsidies that the industry currently uses. Corporations with overseas operations would pay a minimum tax on foreign earnings.
