We’ve heard from our manufacturing members, large and small, that finding skilled workers — including engineers, skilled production staff and even entry-level workers — is becoming an increasingly difficult task, despite the fact that our state’s unemployment rate currently hovers around 9 percent. MMA is committed to helping manufacturers address the manufacturing workforce shortage.

Manufacturing Skills and 60 Jobs Expected with New Mobile Training Lab
Manufacturers in Northern Michigan need employees with specific skills in order to grow.  An effort to meet that demand is under way with the purchase of a mobile training laboratory  that would allow for at least 60 new jobs to be created in the Boyne City business park and an estimated 300 others across the rest of the region.

FIRST Robotics State Champs Crowned
A three team alliance of Bloomfield International Academy, Utica Schools and Romeo Engineering & Tech Center won the Michigan state title in FIRST Robotics Saturday, earning trip to the World Championships in St. Louis in two weeks.
