photograph of MMA Director of Education and Employment Relations Amy ShawAmy Shaw was appointed to the Michigan Manufacturers Association’s newly-created position of director of education and employment relations in 2001. She has more than 13 years of experience in program development and implementation, including eight years in her previous capacity as MMA’s director of education.

In addition to her responsibilities for educational lobbying and managing MMA-sponsored seminars, Shaw works to represent the interests of the manufacturing community in the areas of workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, wage and hour, MIOSHA, health care benefits, labor relations, equal employment opportunity and employment training.

Shaw also leads the MMA Education Advisory Committee, made up of MMA-member company representatives interested in education, training and workforce development issues.

Who sits on the Advisory Committees?

All members are welcome to join a committee and share their input.

How is MMA’s legislative policy developed?

The members of the MMA Advisory Committees develop the legislative policy. They are closest to the issue, many dealing directly with the effects of the legislation or regulation. Once the committee develops policy, the government affairs staff works to implement it.
