Makin’ It In Michigan |
MMA launched a new program in Spring 2007 to help educate and excite middle and high school students; parents; teachers; and guidance counselors about the many career opportunities available in manufacturing and the skills needed to obtain these jobs. The program, called “Makin’ It In Michigan,” is helping to set the record straight on the future of manufacturing and what manufacturing jobs entail through presentations, advanced manufacturing facility tours, a manufacturing careers Web site, informational brochures and a bi-annual e-newsletter which is sent to math, science, technology and career teachers and guidance counselors. Along with providing a facility tour outline and guidance for host sites, MMA also acts as a careers-in-manufacturing facilitator to kick-off and wrap-up the tours. We also recruit and select manufacturing facilities that best represent advanced manufacturing to participate in this process. For schools that cannot attend facility tours, alternative delivery methods are made available. If your company has or knows of any successful camps or programs designed to encourage kids to pursue manufacturing careers or you would like to be considered for a “Makin’ It In Michigan” advanced manufacturing facility tour, contact Kellie Garrett, MMA director of marketing and membership development, at 800-253-9039 ext. 542 or 517-487-8542. |
