Wireless Access Point (MMA-WAP) Use Policy

Definitions

Network — Internet Access via 802.11b or 802.11g, wireless service provided by MMA Service

Corporation (MMASC), a subsidiary of the Michigan Manufacturers Association (MMA)

Policy — This document

User — Any person accessing the MMA-WAP by any means or any reason

Policy Scope and User Acceptance

Acceptance of this policy is mandatory by any prospective or current users of MMA-WAP. This policy sets forth all restrictions and prohibitions relating to the use of the MMA-WAP and is not static and is subject to change at any time with or without notification to prospective or current users. It is the user’s responsibility to periodically review this document at http://www.mma-net.org or posted in the board and conference rooms of MMA headquarters. The user agrees to be bound to this policy; acceptance is determined by the user’s use of the MMA-WAP.

Prohibited Uses

The use of the MMA-WAP as defined below is prohibited under this Policy. The descriptions shown below are guidelines and as such are not exhaustive in scope.

  1. Violating any applicable law or regulation
  2. Posting or transmitting content you do not have the right to post or transmit
  3. Posting or transmitting content that infringes a third party’s trademark, patent, trade secret, copyright, publicity, privacy or other right
  4. Posting or transmitting content that is unlawful, untrue, stalking, harassing, libelous, defamatory, abusive, tortuous, threatening, obscene, hateful, abusive, harmful or otherwise objectionable as determined at MMASC’s sole discretion
  5. Attempting to intercept, collect or store data about third parties without their knowledge or consent
  6. Deleting, tampering with or revising any material posted by any other person or entity
  7. Attempting to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of a system or network or to breach security or authentication measures
  8. Sending unsolicited messages, including without limitation, promotions or advertisements for products or services, “pyramid schemes,” “spam,” “chain mail” or “junk mail”
  9. Sending altered, deceptive or false source-identifying information
  10. Interfering or attempting to interfere with the access of any user, host or network, including without limitation, sending a “virus,” overloading, “flooding,” “spamming,” “crashing” or “mail-bombing”
  11. Impersonating or misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity
  12. Using while operating a motorized vehicle or any other vehicle that would endanger the user or others due to neglect of the operator
Security

MMA-WAP users are responsible for the maintenance of basic security on their systems to prevent its use by others in a manner that violates this Policy. Users are responsible for taking corrective actions on their vulnerable or exploited systems to prevent continued abuse.

Consequences

Violations of this Policy may result in immediate temporary or permanent filtering, blocked access or other action appropriate to the violation, as determined by MMA/MMASC in its sole discretion and or when mandated by local, state, federal or international laws. When feasible, MMA/MMASC prefers to give notice so that violations may be addressed voluntarily; however MMA reserves the right to act without notice when necessary, as determined by its sole discretion and or when mandated by local, state, federal or international laws. Further MMA/MMASC will cooperate fully with any authoritative agency for prosecutorial purpose if warranted by the violation. MMA/MMASC will not be held responsible for any actionable violations of this Policy by the user.

How do I calculate my company's annual dues?

MMA dues are determined using Capital and Surplus (C&S) figures, allocable to Michigan. Data necessary to calculate C&S can be found on the company Balance Sheet. C&S is equivalent to the total stockholder equity. For more information, see the How to Calculate Dues brochure.
