Michigan Manufacturing Week

In honor of Michigan Manufacturing Week, May 11-17, MMA would like to help Michigan’s manufacturers draw attention to the significant contributions the industrial sector makes to our state every day. To assist in that effort, the Association has developed two pieces, a payroll stuffer [pdf file] and content [Word file] that can be used within company newsletters or for other purposes as need be, that highlights just how important manufacturing is to Michigan.

Each year in May, by proclamation of the governor [pdf file], Michigan Manufacturing Week spotlights the tremendous contributions manufacturers make to the state. MMA’s involvement in the observance includes helping to raise awareness of the key role manufacturing plays in Michigan’s economy and helping members to plan plant tours to expose students to manufacturing careers. To celebrate Michigan Manufacturing Week, MMA spearheads these activities:

MMA CEO Forum

The first CEO Forum held May 9, 2006, brought together manufacturing leaders, economists and policy experts from across the state. Several important issues and ideas were discussed; including the need for an effective, responsible education system, tax fairness for manufacturers and improved permitting processes. Join us for the second MMA CEO Forum May 8, 2007.

MMA Plant Tour Program

The MMA Plant Tour Program provides manufacturers an opportunity to open their facility doors to local school children, teachers, counselors and parents, as well as to government decision-makers and the media if you so choose. MMA can help arrange tours during Michigan Manufacturing Week or at other times that are more convenient for your company.

Legislative & Executive Reception

The Legislative & Executive Reception is your opportunity to mingle with legislators and other government officials in a relaxed, celebratory setting.

Award Programs

Once a year, MMA recognizes exemplary manufacturers through the John G. Thodis Michigan Manufacturer of the Year Awards. Legislators who have spearheaded initiatives to support manufacturing are also recognized by MMA during Michigan Manufacturing Week through the Legislative Awards.

Who are members of the Michigan Manufacturers Association?

MMA’s membership is made up of companies, ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to small, family-owned shops, rather than individuals. Nearly 3,000 companies across the state currently take advantage of the Association’s many services.

Michigan Manufacturing Week
