If you have an opportunity for Michigan manufacturers, please complete the online form and we will consider your information for posting and distribution. Metalforming Congress Heads to Grand Rapids this FallTired of the hassles and expense of overseas business-building trips? Consider attending the International Council of Sheet Metal Presswork Associations (ICOSPA) Congress, to be held this year right in our “backyard” to make those international connections instead. The Congress, to be held September 14-17 in Grand Rapids, will bring together metalworking executives from around the world to share ideas and best practices. The event returns to the U.S. for the first time in 15 years. Electronic safe manufacturer looking for metal fab partnerAn electronic safe manufacturer, based in Isreal, is considering having safes made in the U.S. They want to have an existing metal fabricator expand its business by manufacturing the safe against Safeplace product specs. See the SafePlace USA Web site for more information on the company. Diesel engine manufacturer looking for suppliersMTU Detroit Diesel will be hosting a Supply Day June 18-19. The company is looking for Michigan suppliers that can provide engine parts for very large diesel engines. Here is the invitation that MTU asked MMA to pass on: Lansing-Area Firm Looking for Used Diamond Wire SawA company is interested in purchasing a used diamond wire saw to cut slices off its niobium ingots, 9” diameter. As of now the company uses a horizontal saw which leaves a very rough, uneven edge. Niobium is comparable to copper, but softer (yield strength ~20,000 psi and density ~ 8.57 g/cm3). If there is a better way to cut the ingot, the company would welcome suggestions. Wire EDM does not seem practical for this application as it’s very expensive for an initial investment and takes a lot of time to cut. |
